Context and purpose of the job
The Innovations Against Poverty (IAP) program, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and implemented by SNV, supports innovative, inclusive business models that engage and benefit low-income populations in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia. This program operates a challenge fund to identify and support promising innovations that contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive development in these countries.
Reporting to the Agri-Food Sector Leader and with a dotted/matrix line to Multi-Country Project Manager, the Project Manager is part of an SNV Country Organisation. The Project Manager is responsible for project implementation in Cambodia while liaising and working with the IAP Program Management Unit. The Project Manager manages the start-up, implementation, and closing of the project in Cambodia, within scope, budget, timeline and acceptable quality levels along the commitments specified in the contracts signed with the donor(s) and other relevant stakeholders. The IAP program is a multi-country project, which will require the Project Manager to work closely with administrative and technical team members from other program locations. The Project Manager works in line with SNV standards, and embraces SNV`s approach to business development, project management and donor regulations, in order to achieve high quality results and deliverables of the project.
Job Description
Challenge Fund Management & Business Support
- Launch the challenge fund, promote applicant opportunities, and support the training, selection, and contracting of innovative inclusive businesses.
- Support business plan implementation, identify capacity needs provide technical support as needed to IAP grantees from this round, as well as from previous rounds.
- Guide businesses through milestone achievements, including monitoring, growth, and investment planning.
Project Planning, Delivery & Compliance
- Develop and manage project plans, including assigning tasks, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring compliance with SNV and donor standards.
- Manage the administrative, financial, and HR aspects of the project to ensure compliance with SNV’s internal policies and donor requirements.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Engage with the investment and business development ecosystem and represent SNV at relevant gatherings, raising visibility and networking with potential donors to grow the IAP program.
- Maintain relationships with team members, partners, and donors, fostering collaboration and a strong presence for SNV.
Knowledge Sharing & Innovation
- Identify and document key insights, contributing to internal and external knowledge-sharing initiatives and communications.
- Seek opportunities for innovation, project upscaling, and ensure effective project closure and evaluation.
Reporting & Team Collaboration
- Participate actively in team meetings, share project insights, and report regularly on progress, challenges, and impact.
Professional Development & Representation
- Identify and attend workshops, conferences, and events to strengthen connections in the investment and enterprise development ecosystem.
- Serve as a focal point within expertise networks, supporting SNV’s business development efforts as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other related tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent proficiency in a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in development work, business administration, impact business, project management, and/or related sectors within an international, multi-country context.
- Proven ability to lead and work collaboratively, fostering cooperation to achieve goals and objectives.
- Skilled in setting goals, prioritizing tasks, assessing required actions, and making decisive decisions.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems systematically and proactively to meet or exceed objectives.
- Strong dedication to setting high-quality standards and driving continuous improvement and quality assurance.
- Genuine interest in private sector development, poverty alleviation, and reducing inequality.
- High initiative, creativity in problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible, reliable, discreet, and committed to ongoing learning.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of SAP ByDesign and SharePoint is an added advantage.
