Mlup Baitong (MB), literally translated as “green shade”, is a dynamic and respected Cambodian NGO. It was first established in 1998 to focus on environment education and natural resource management and to address the poverty in Cambodia with a focus on educating the general public on conservation of natural resources and supporting the poor to improve their livelihood.
Up to year 2024, Mlup Baitong operates its project in four target provinces including Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat and Battambang.
This Sustaining Sustainable Community Environment and Livelihood Improvement (SSCELI-2) project is implementing in 3 target provinces of Kampong Chhnang, Pursat and Battambang from 2024 to 2026 which will focus on the establishment, development and improvement of 28 Community Forestry (CF) and Community Protected Areas (CPA) (CFs/CPAs), 15 Community Based Ecotourism (CBETs), 6 Environmentally Friendly Communities (EFCs), 4 Eco Schools and also support and strengthen the 120 micro-entrepreneurs in order to reach the 2 main objective below:
- The sustainable natural resource management and environmental practices of the target areas (especially in the targeted CFs and CPAs) are improved.
- The targeted micro-entrepreneurs and CBETs have increased their income.
Who is directly responsible to the Program Coordinator (PC) (be based in the Pursat province.)
Position Summary
The Project Officer (PO) reports directly to the Program Coordinator (PC) for ensuring the smooth operation of the organization toward achieving the goal of delivering value-added services of the organization. PO will be mainly responsible for the day-to-day project management, implementation and monitoring project activities base on the set monthly work plan, and also manage the project financial management and budget under his/her responsibility.
- Prepare and develop annually, semester, quarterly, monthly work plan of the project according to the approved 3 year project
- Manage and implement the project activities and budget according to the project planning
- Facilitate in strengthening and building up the capacity of local community and authorities on related skills/topics
- Supervise Project Assistants and volunteers (if any)
- Conduct project monitoring and evaluation
- Write monthly activity report of the project to Program Coordinator (PC)
- Communicate with local authorities, stakeholders and communities in rural target areas
- Do some extra works as required by the organization
- Prepare and develop monthly quarterly and monthly budget Vs. work plan of the project according to the approved 3 year project
- Prepare and submit the monthly project Cash Advance and liquidation to the PC for review and approval
- Support in managing and maintaining the project fixed asset listing with the support from the Finance and Admin Assistant (FAA),
- Prepare project administrative documents
- Other tasks assign by the organization
- Bachelor degree in related field (Forestry/Tourism/Environment/Community Development/Agriculture preferred)
- Good interpersonal skill and teambuilding ability, honestly, dependable and trustworthy
- At least 2 years work experiences with significant project management
- Ability to facilitate and conduct workshop/training/meeting with community
- Experience in preparing monthly project work plan and reporting the implementing activities
- Good written and spoken English and Khmer
- Proficiency in computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet) & E-mail communication
- Willingness to work and stay in the rural area
- Knowledge of financial project management
- Ability to travel to the field by motorbike
