Join a passionate team of people committed to animal welfare and the control of rabies in Cambodia. The Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) and Animal Rescue Cambodia (ARC) with their joint project Mission Rabies Cambodia are working together to educate the people of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province about rabies and how to get along with the canine population in their communities.
WVS has been leading the way in developing easy-to-use and effective education tools and materials, with a focus on primary school children (up to the age of 12 years). With 99% of all human rabies deaths being caused by a bite from a rabid dog, WVS’ education tools and materials aim to teach children and the general public how to avoid dog bites in the first place and live-saving first aid measures in case someone was bitten.
You will be working as a team to deliver teach-the-teacher training on rabies in schools across Phnom Penh and the surrounding Provinces. You will be involved in the booking and management of appointments with schools to teach the teacher rabies education training and liaise with the schools to collect data on the lessons delivered. You will also be providing rabies training to local communities and other organisations who would benefit from this knowledge. You will be involved in the production of additional education materials on rabies in support of the National Strategic Plan for Rabies Elimination in Cambodia.
