The Solidarity Center (SC) is the largest U.S.-based international worker rights organization. Its programs are based on the principle that, by exercising their right to freedom of association and forming trade unions and democratic worker rights organizations, working people can collectively improve their workplaces, call on governments to uphold laws and protect human rights, and be a force for labor rights respect, social justice and inclusive economic development. Its programs in more than 60 countries focus on human and worker rights awareness, union skills, occupational safety and health, gender equality, migration and human trafficking and pro-legal strategies, as well as bolster workers in an increasingly informal economy.
Our Project Background of Labor Incidents Tracking Database (LITD)
The Solidarity Center (SC) is undertaking a five-year, USAID-funded program (September 2019-September 2024) entitled “Labor Rights in Cambodia (LRIC)”. The LRIC program is being implemented in collaboration with trade unions and civil society partners, focusing on four key objectives: improved labor rights protections; improved representation of workers interests in targeted sectors/industries; strengthened linkages among labor, business and civil society; and increased effectiveness of labor relations systems.
To support this work, the SC has recently created a searchable labor incidents tracking database (LITD) that will allow it to more efficiently, collect, and track labor incidents across Cambodia and analyze the data and identify trends. Data will be gathered from a variety of sources of information for collation in the LITD, including information gathered through legal cases, from trade unions and through Solidarity Center’s other partners and sub-grantees or from publicly available information about labor incidents in Cambodia such as in the media or on public websites.
