The Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) is based in Siem Reap, with a branch office in Phnom Penh. CKS promotes research and scholarly exchange in the social sciences, arts, and humanities between American, international, and Cambodian scholars through a variety of programs focused on Cambodia and its region.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Research Consultant to conduct an assessment study relating to social science and humanities research skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on academic capacity-building programs and training in higher education institutions, private non-profits, and research entities in Cambodia.
- Develop research methodology and data collection tools
- Engage with students, faculty, and administrators through interviews, surveys, and other data collection methods.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to draw meaningful insights.
- Produce a state-of-the-field report and research article in English on the state of research capacity skills training and research funding. The report should include recommendations and suggestions for the training courses/subjects to be included for research capacity building and indicate areas of oversaturation.
- Prepare and present the key findings and recommendations to donors and key stakeholders of the CKS and Ponlok Chomnes Program.
Qualifications
- A Master’s or PhD in a relevant academic field (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Humanities).
- Strong knowledge of higher education in Cambodia, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.
- Proven experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Excellent writing skills in both English and Khmer.
- Previous experience conducting interviews with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with research in the humanities and social sciences.
