Salary: 1113-1277 USD
To undertake provincial field implementation of local value chain development that provides overall support and facilitation to Agriculture Cooperative (AC)/Producer Groups (PG) and producers within targets of the project to increase their incomes by assisting AC/PG and producers to meet buyer requirements and gain access to more lucrative and sustainable markets. Key duties will include; working with producers to understand the opportunities for local production and marketing, conducting participatory value chain analysis, identifying key market players, opportunities and constraints, formulating innovative market hypothetical’s, generating real market orders and coaching/mentoring of producers in AC/PG.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct Participatory Market Assessment and Analysis - work with relevant stakeholders and community to conduct local value chain assessment to identify high-potential products through participatory value chain analysis.
- Mobilizes and strengthens producer groups to work collectively to purchase inputs, process and market products.
- Link producer groups to technical and business training and coaching to ensure they have the required knowledge, skills and behaviors to respond to market requirements/demands.
- Ensure the producer groups access to saving and finance services and linking them to market actors and service providers.
- Work on the capacity strengthening of AC/PG to improve AC/PG governance, collection points, transportation and market information.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- At least 2 years experiences working in marketing, agro-business development, rural development, or any relevant roles with I/NOGs or private sectors.
- University degree in Agronomy, Agro-Economics, Development Studies, Marketing, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, or any related fields.
- Knowledge of the local culture and conditions in the area.
- Sound good knowledge of business principles and market development and inclusion systems.
- Good understanding of local economic development and ability to diagnose and assess local economies.
- Familiar with the principles and practice of the value chain analysis and development as well as the effects on poor producers.
- Knowledge of primary production and agriculture.
- Understanding of market development projects and methods.
- Knowledge in research, from design to implementation.
- Competent in verbal and written English communication.
- Strong computer literacy skills including MS Office; e-mail and internet.
- Analytical/problem solving skills and details orientation skills.
- Willing to travel and stay overnight in the rural community.
