Project Officer, Coastal & Marine Conservation Project (CMCP)

Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: The
position will be based in Phnom Penh,
with regular travel to field sites.

Main
Duties: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, CMCP, the Project Officer
will provide key administrative and project support to FFI’s coastal and marine
conservation interventions in Cambodia, particularly
the UK Government funded project entitled ‘Underpinning the design and
management of Cambodia’s first Marine Fisheries Management Area.’
Specific
Duties:
Project Support & Administration
- Assist the Project Manager, CMCP and the Cambodia-based team members with the day-to-day support and administration of the project;
- Provide support in preparation of project documents including work plans, progress reports, contracts and other relevant documents;
- Establish a filing system for project documentation and ensure all project information, such as research results, contact details, basic community information, waypoints, maps and digital photographs, are held on file
- Provide support in the preparation and implementation of relevant meetings, conferences and workshops;
- Assist with travel arrangements including booking flights and accommodation and developing meeting agendas;
- Liaise with the FFI office on financial and administrative matters and ensure that all administrative and financial transactions are carried out properly in accordance with FFI policies and donor guidelines;
- Assist with translation and interpretation between English and Khmer;
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
- Liaise with project partners, specifically Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) and the Fisheries Administration (FiA) of the Royal Government of Cambodia, as required;
- Coordinate meetings with local communities and project partners, and assist with field work;
- Maintain contact with local communities to monitor project implementation and its effects on local communities;
- Build and maintain working relationships with collaborators in marine research and conservation, including but not limited to Department of Fisheries Conservation of FiA and other government departments, universities, island resorts, dive shops, development agencies and other conservation organisations.
Qualification/requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience in an environmental field;
- Proven administrative skills;
- Experience with International NGOs and coordination with Government;
- Experience of working with rural and/or coastal communities;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and other MS Office products;
- Proficiency in spoken & written Khmer and English;
