FINCA International, a leading global network of microfinance institutions providing loans to over 500,000 entrepreneurs in 21 countries, has excellent opportunities to grow some of the world's most challenging and rewarding markets. Currently FINCA International is looking for a Grants Accountant, based in Washington, DC. The Grants Accountant performs a broad range of general accounting, cost accounting, analysis and reporting duties, with key responsibilities in the following areas:
- Maintain detail fiscal records of grant funded programs and prepare claims for reimbursement
- Prepare financial and analytical reports, monthly reconciliations of subsidiary funds cash balance
- Assist in the maintenance of computerized accounting system
- Compile data for special and regular financial reports
- Analyze journal entries, makes and reviews related audits,
- Maintain and reconcile subsidiary ledgers and control accounts,
- Assist in year-end closing of books,
- Review existing procedures and make recommendation for relevant changes,
- Perform related duties as required.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Recent graduate student or one to two years of experience in accounting related tasks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial information
- Ability to identify a problem, analyze its source, find and implement an appropriate solution
- Ability to respond to inquiries from staff, vendors, regulatory agencies, or affiliates
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Costpoint knowledge is a plus- Knowledge of multicurrency accounting
