About Hansen Leadership Institute (HLI):
Anton (“Tony”) Dimitroff is the Trustee of the Fred J. Hansen Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust. As the Trustee, he is responsible for the programs that the Hansen Foundation sponsors and funds. He has, over the last few decades, conceived of and overseen the design of the various programs that the Hansen Trust has operated. In doing this, he has worked closely together with his wife, Gail Dimitroff. In 2019, Gail passed away and will be greatly missed for her insights and involvement in the creation and operation of the programs with Tony, particularly the Hansen Leadership Institute. Today, under their leadership, the Hansen Leadership Institute is a fitting tribute to Gail’s contributions.
Fred J. Hansen’s vision was to create a more peaceful world through
international cooperation. He desired for people from other nations to
visit the United States to learn more about its culture, economy, and
government. In turn, he wanted people of the United States to be more
informed about the broader world and its peoples and customs. He knew it
would take principled, passionate, indefatigable leadership to achieve
this vision.
The 2022 Hansen Leadership Institute:
The 2022 Hansen Leadership Institute’s International Fellows were selected in early 2020. They have remained committed through two postponements, to come to the University of San Diego in July 2022. Therefore, the only search this year is for the United States students who will join these International Fellows.
