MA LLL - European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management

The objective of the MA LLL consortium is to continue the delivery of a multi-site two-year masters program (120 ECTS) and implement some of its features in the field of Lifelong Learning. The European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management aims to train professionals to design and develop educational policies concerned with Lifelong Learning. Graduates of MA LLL will be able to promote innovative LLL systems that are suited to the social and organisational context in which they are undertaken. Students will acquire competences to mediate between the  ducational community and the needs of the local environment. They will learn to advise organisations on the planning,  implementation, evaluation, supervision, and control of learning mechanisms in LLL.

The MA LLL will provide familiarity with the theories, methods and perspectives of transnational and comparative education and LLL. Students will learn techniques for recognising diverse learning needs (depending on age, gender, aptitude, socio-cultural conditions etc.) and for identifying the appropriate educational actions to meet these needs. They will be able to design and develop flexible learning paths using the ECTS, Qualification Frameworks, recognition of prior learning, ICT and e-learning. They will also develop systemic competences related to management, quality, creativity, innovation and leadership.

The participating organisations are the Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University, Institute of Education (IoE), University of London, Universidad de Deusto (UD), Bilbao, and the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE), University of Melbourne. In general students will be admitted to the MA LLL in either DPU or IoE where they will complete the first year of study (60 ECTS). European students will have the optional choice to complete one module (15 ECTS) at MSGE during the second semester. All students will spend their third semester at UD in Spain. Students may choose to spend their fourth semester writing their dissertation at any of the three degree awarding European universities. To accommodate students from Spanish speaking regions an alternative mobility-track is made available to complete the semesters in a sequence starting in Bilbao, Spain, followed by the second and third semester in London or Copenhagen with the possibility to complete the MA LLL in Spain, Denmark or the UK.

The language of instruction is English. The MA LLL involves app. fifty students with a professor/student ratio 1 to 10. Depending on the individual mobility-track students are awarded a double or multiple degree which is recognised by all consortium partners and the national authorities.
