Human Resource Management (HRM), or human resource development, entails planning, implementing, and managing recruitment, as well as selection, training, career, and organizational development initiatives within an organization. The goal of HRM is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees while simultaneously improving the work life of employees and treating employees as valuable resources. Consequently, HRM encompasses efforts to promote personal development, employee satisfaction, and compliance with employment-related laws.
HRM can also be performed by line managers. HRM is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, and administration. HRM is also a strategic and comprehensive approach to managing people and the workplace culture and environment. Effective HRM enables employees to contribute effectively and productively to the overall direction and the accomplishments of the goals and objectives of a company/organization.
Overall Objective
Human Resource Management (HRM) course aims at equipping a critical concept/understanding of the ethical implications of HRM in general, key principles, HR related-issues, practices associated with organizations’ strategies; and critically analyze and make recommendations for improvement of HRM practices in the organization.
Expected Outcome
By the end of 2 days professional training workshop the participants will be able to:
- Gain and adapt the essential skills in managing human resources
- Analyze and apply critical skills necessity in recruitment, selection and interview processes
- Receive confidence and competency in organizing and conducting staff capacity improvement

- To help SMEs managers/ owner and practitioners understand the key elements of effective Human Resource Management within their institutions.

Training Methodology
The training methodology will be focused on Experience Based and Participatory Approaches include: lecture, student-centered including brainstorming, role play, small group discussion with plenary presentation, plenary discussion, group work, team involvement in decision making, participants’ problems raised during the workshop for discussion, communication game and any other contributions will be held in high respect.
Training tools, materials and facilities
The LCD projector, flipcharts, posters, color papers, handouts, folders, pens, papers and other stationeries, especially, daily evaluation and final evaluation and other specific materials were used to present key learning concepts and structures and to make good environment for learning and to ensure the training run smoothly and efficiency.
About trainer
Mr. Phat Thomas has an MBA in the field of management from BBU. He currently works for leading MFIs as Administration Director. He had worked for 11 years’ experience with a microfinance institution, Pharmaceutical distributor as HR and administration Director, and NGOs in the field of human resources and administration management. He also attended many local and international practical training programs on staff management, effective performance management, leadership, communication, administration management, human resource management, and development of SMEs in the Mekong region in Japan and exposer training on practical HR management in Philippine.
He has almost 8 years experiences on providing both Practical and Theory training to many universities levels, such as Human Resources Management, Office Management, Principle management, Strategy management, Entrepreneurship and time management and practical training to many companies and NGOs on Effective Practical Administration management, Effective Practical human resources management, Effective compensation and benefit management, Effective staff performance management, and Effective Training of trainer, and etc.
